What is needed to buy a property in Spain?
Power of Attorney:
NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) is translated literally as the Foreign Identification Number and issued to people who are not Spanish citizens. Spanish Citizens on the other hand receive a DNI. As you would expect, any non-Spanish citizen whether or not from the EU receives a NIE rather than a DNI. Having an NIE does not imply residency. Therefore, it is quite usually so have both a NIE and be a non-resident in Spain.
